Cookies
The site uses only technical storage, needed for it to work. Google Analytics statistics are switched on only if you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time.
In brief
Cookies and other browser storage, such as local storage, are small pieces of data that a site saves on your device. Following the guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali), this site:
- it does not use profiling or advertising cookies;
- loads no third-party scripts before you choose;
- switches on Google Analytics only if you press ‘Accept’ in the ‘Visit statistics’ box; if you reject, or do not choose, nothing is loaded.
How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy notice.
Technical storage
They remember the choices you make on the site. They do not require consent, stay on your device and are never sent to us.
- forall-consenso (local storage): your choice on statistics, ‘Accept’ or ‘Reject’, with the date. After six months you are asked again.
- forall-preferenze (local storage): your Accessibility panel preferences, such as text size, spacing, contrast and animations. They stay until you press ‘Reset’ or clear the site’s data.
- forall-spiegazioni (local storage): whether you chose to show the explanations of the controls in the Accessibility panel.
- forall-lingua (local storage): the language you chose among German, French and Spanish, to keep the automatic translation from one page to the next.
- googtrans (cookie): set by the GTranslate translation service only when you choose German, French or Spanish, to keep the translation while you browse.
Statistics cookies
Only with your consent do we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand in aggregate how the site is used: which pages are read, on which devices, along which paths. We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation: we do not use this data for advertising or to profile people.
- _ga: tells one visitor from another with a random identifier, without knowing who you are; lasts 13 months.
- _ga_JSEMGBZ01T: keeps the state of the session; lasts 13 months.
How Google Analytics cookies work is described in the Google Analytics help (opens in a new tab). You can also block Google Analytics on every site with the opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab) provided by Google.
Changing your choice
You can give or withdraw your consent at any time, from here or from ‘Cookie preferences’ at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw it, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted.
You can also clear cookies and site data from your browser settings; in that case the site also forgets your accessibility preferences and language.
External services
Fonts and images are served from our own server, without Google Fonts. Two external services are switched on only if you ask for them:
- automatic translation: if you choose German, French or Spanish, the browser loads GTranslate, which relies on Google Translate;
- YouTube videos: in place of the video there is an image of ours; only when you press the play button does the browser connect to YouTube, using the cookie-free player (youtube-nocookie.com).
Links to external sites, such as LinkedIn or the sources cited in articles, install nothing until you open them; from then on, the rules of the site you visit apply.
Updates
We update this page whenever the site changes.
